Seven pups x 7 days old = lots of fun!
Giada gave birth to seven healthly puppies in Cordele, GA on January 9, 2009. She proved to be an excellent mother to the litter of five female and two male puppies. Rocco stood by as the typical befuddled father and Zeta, our Bichon, thought she was their surrogate mom. When their aunt, Belle the golden retriever came to visit, we had eleven dogs in the house.
We had a few peaceful weeks as the puppies grew from puff balls to playful little pups each with a very distinctive personality. Needless to say, things moved very quickly from a dull roar to a full romp as the puppies begain to grow and move about. The puppies acclimated to people and began to socialize so quickly and so well that we were amazed.
Prospective parents began to visit in February. Emails and photos went back and forth as new owners began to name their puppy. It was a bittersweet weekend as the first three puppies left for their new homes - Arabella to Washington; Valentina Rossi to Canada; and Rosa stayed in Georgia. A few days later Dante and Waldo went to North Carolina. The final two females went to Washington, D.C. and Greenville, S.C. We are experiencing the "empty nest syndrome" and cannot wait for our next grandbabies to arrive!
