Both Greg and I are dog lovers. We have never been without a dog or two or three. Greg decided he wanted a more manly dog than our beloved Bichon. He made a list of traits and characteristics and began to research.
His short list was...
- a mid-sized dog who could have fun on the farm, but be small enough to be a house dog
- a hypo-allergenic, non shedding dog (our golden retreiver and rottweiller taught us to look for that trait)
- a social dog who would get along with the other dogs and people in our household.
The one dog that fit all of these requirements was the lagotto. Once we agreed on the right breed, we launched our international search for the perfect dog. We fell in love with the lagotto pictures that were posted by many breeders. We selected Cry Out Kennels in Italy for our first dog. While waiting for Rocco to arrive, we began to correspond with other lagotto owners and met Jay and Matteo. Matteo was a wonderful ambassador for this breed. We knew this was the perfect breed for us! We were so enthuasistic that we became charter members of the Lagotto Club of America.
Rocco had to have a companion, so we began the search for a female lagotto. We kept this search in the United States and purchased Giada from Red Barn Kennels in Arizona.
After discovering the possibility of chocolate lagottos, we decided to add one more member to our family: Lexie.
We are charter members of the Lagotto Club of America. For more information, go to www.LagottoUS.com.
